| Exhibitions | Past Emmanuel Cooper 25 May - 30 June 2002 Emmanuel Cooper is famed for his innovative and experimental use of glazes, and the liberal idiom in which his work is produced. This exhibition shows Coopers jugs as graphic illustrations of just such a fertile imagination. Neatly side-stepping the whole issue of containments, they delineate fluid possibilities, their forms and rich surfaces sparkling off one another to create a dialogue of light and shade. The vessel as metaphor...some jugs are designed to contain everyday substances and have everyday functions, whilst others - although perfectly capable of such mundane references - aspire to much more. A 48 page catalogue with contributions from Edward Lucie-Smith, Alison Brotton and Cooper himself accompanies the exhibitions Images from the exhibition at ArtSway ![]() ![]() ![]() Click here to return to Past Exhibition menu. |
