| This diary is part of the community programme of my Landscape and Technology residency at ArtSway. I aim to make my process of picture making transparent, to share the experiences, feelings and thoughts which lead to a picture, from the first encounter with the landscape to the final resolution of the print. It is an experiment and could go wrong: what I’ll note down may become boring for me or the people who look at it; or it might become a process too painfully revealing to be continued. It is also unlikely to be as linear as the agenda of my residency because it will have to refer to the past and project into the future. I perceive my picture making as a mainly sensual and experiential process. Thoughts, it seems, are always afterthoughts. One aim I have for this diary is to unveil the multitude of internalised practical, technical, or even pragmatic decisions I make to arrive at a picture. There is no set schedule for the update of this diary but I will aim to add new entries at least once a week.
