ArtSway Information e-newsletters provide you with a regular update of what is happening at the gallery. Below is information about the next exhibition, including the ArtSway Open07 with talks and special events; There is also a range of festive workshops for both adults and children and news about our artist in residence.

It's December again very soon and almost Christmas once more! All at ArtSway would like to wish you happy holidays and a great 2008! Taking us into the festive season, the gallery has a number of great events during the ArtSway open to end 2007 on a high!

New Exhibition 8th December 2007 - 10th February 2008. The ArtSway Open is available for viewing from the 8th December. This year sees another range of mixed-media works perfectly illustrating today's contemporary art scene. This year saw an unprecedented amount of work submitted to the Open, thanks to all who took the time to enter work. Over 500 pieces were received this year with only 30 selected for final inclusion - the overall standard of the work was incredibly high. Congratulations to all those who made the cut and commisserations to those who were sadly not accepted. We greatly enjoyed looking at all the work and are anticipating a fabulous show this year! The chosen works have been selected and below are a number of special events to accompany this year's exhibition. |
Reception for the Artists Saturday 8 December, 2pm - 5pm All are welcome to help celebrate the opening of the exhibition and meet some of the artists involved. FREE. All Welcome. Open Studios Tax and Accountancy Surgery for Artists Monday 17 December 2007, 10am - 5pm A day of tax and accountancy surgeries for artists from Peter Lashmar, Lasmars Accountants of Lymington and sponsors of this year's ArtSway Open07. FREE Portfolio Day Gallery Talk and Winner Announcement Saturday 26 January, 2pm The event is sponsored by Lashmars Accountants of Lymington with additional support from Art & Business .

Residency News For those who are not familiar with Hannah's work, recurring motifs of trees, mountains and clouds are used to create pieces that both relax the eye and intrigue with detail. More information about Hannah and a range of examples of her work can be found at www.gimpelfils.com Hannah also contributed to the selection of ArtSway Open07, and we really appreciated her help! Hannah's ArtSway show open on Saturday 19 April and con tinue until 2 June 2008.

December Workshops Life Drawing courses Life drawing classes continue throughout December along with Saturday morning and weekday evening children's classes. Festive Children's Workshops Why not come and get into the festive spirit with our children's workshop. There are two great days to choose from: Amazing Christmas Origami Ornaments Sunday 16 December, 11am - 4pm Workshop for 7-11 year olds. With Xmas just around the corner, come and learn to make fantastic origami Xmas ornaments – and maybe even a one-of-a-kind gift for a loved one! With Rachel Meek. COST: £22 for the day (please bring a packed lunch) Amazing Christmas Animation Thursday 20 December, 11am - 4pm Workshop for 7-11 year olds. Retail Therapy With Christmas coming up, why not call in and visit our craft shop to find that unique gift? Prices for jewellery, ceramics, textiles, and books start at just £5 and are made by ArtSway studio artists, plus local and national makers. We have just had a large number of new pieces added to the shop just in time for Christmas! An additional dates for your diary: 6 December sees late-night shopping until 9pm and on the 8 December there is the chance to come and visit the ArtSway studios and find that special Christmas gift. The Gallery & Craft Shop is open 11am-5pm from Tuesday – Sunday. Please note, the gallery will be closed from December 20 until 7 January 2008.
