FUTURE EXHIBITION |
|
Kirk Palmer, Hiroshima (film still), S16mm film, 2007. Courtesy of the artist. |
Based on a True Story 3 July - 31 August 2010 Featuring Artists: Emily Allchurch, Ronnie Close, Andrew Cross, Michelle Deignan, Sarah Dobai, Rachel Goodyear, Jock Mooney, Kirk Palmer Based on a True Story is an exhibition at ArtSway that will explore a shared interest in the everyday, and how artists represent and re-invent common histories and shared experience in all aspects and levels of social activity. The artists selected for exhibition, in various modes of practice, all re-analyse events, ideas and encounters - often resulting in an examination of our collective existential experiences of everyday life. Often venturing into areas of underlying discomfiture at the random acts of violence, faith, love and conflict that characterise our everyday existence - random acts that are often hidden away as 'background noise' in life, at the edges of our perceptions - the artists featured in Based on a True Story present works that re-interpret and amplify our, and their, relationship with the world around us. Keep an eye on the website, and next month's newsletter, for futher information on this exhibition. |
