ArtSway Xtra Event

Alistair Gentry Talk at ArtSway - Art, Science and Experiment

ArtSway, Thursday 22 March 2007, 7pm - 9pm

Alistair Gentry, who exhibited at ArtSway in 2002, has most recently been artist in residence at the Genomics Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh.  The work that he made during the residency, Three Times True (2007), image seen above, a three screen video projecton, is currently being shown nightly at the Talbot Rice Gallery in Edinburgh after dark.  On Thursday 22 March 2007, as part of ArtSway's Introductions to Contemporary Art  Series, Alistair will be giving a talk about his experiences working with the genetics research team, some of the fascinating things that he has learned, and discussing the ways in which art and science may work together to understand the ways in which the world is changing.  Alistair has also recently written an article about this experience for MAP Magazine, which features an image from Three Times True on the front cover.  A publication relating to his residency is forthcoming.

Booking is essential, please contact Laura McLean-Ferris on 01590 682260 x 16 or email laura@artsway.org.uk
