Alistair Gentry Alistair Gentry’s Magickal Realism will be shown at Southampton Solent University on Wednesday 12 May 2010 as part of the University’s Interactive Research Group Networking Event. Alistair will be performing from 6pm, following presentations and a screening centred around new media and interactive art. Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva Elpida Hadzi-Vasileva will be talking about her current commission for St. Bede’s College on Saturday 8 May 2010 at Guilford Cathedral. This commission is part of Building Schools for the Future in Bristol, organised by Bristol City Council in consultancy with Art and Sacred Places. In between spending time in Bristol researching the commission and working with the school on workshops, Elpida has also booked some taxidermy training, funded by the ArtSway Associates programme, to feed into her practice. Simon Faithfull The long-awaited Simon Faithfull’s Liverpool to Liverpool public art commission will be unveiled on Thursday 22 April 2010 at Lime Street Gateway, Liverpool. Simon’s journey from Liverpool, UK, to Liverpool, Nova Scotia, was made by container ship, train, and ferry and recorded through a series of 181 drawings made on the artist’s Palm Pilot. The drawings have now been etched into the glass arches and stone pavings around the entrance to Lime Street Station, commissioned by Liverpool Biennial. Other News Following a meeting with Anna Best last month, the ArtSway Associates programme are working with her on funding the completion of her website and of the archiving of her past projects. The programme is also financially supporting the accompanying publication for Dinu Li’s forthcoming exhibition at QUAD, Derby, and has organised a critically led studio visit for Hannah Maybank, from the Director of Raven Row, Alex Sainsbury, due to take place later on in the month.
