| More from us | Art, Artists, Audiences & Intimacy An ArtSway Audience & Artist professional development project (This programme is now complete and these pages are offered as an archive of activity. For our current programme please see ArtSway Associates) Art, Artists, Audiences and Intimacy (AAAI) aims to increase audiences understanding of artists careers and offers support and mentoring to a small group of artists over a two year period. This programme is supported by Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. You can learn about what it means to be a visual artist today, receiving regular news about the artists in the scheme, following their lives and careers and visiting exhibitions and studios. You can also take part in talks and events hosted by ArtSway offering you an insight into today's contemporary arts. Audiences are offered new programmes of talks and meetings (both formal and informal) with artists who have previously exhibited at ArtSway, increasing their knowledge of artists continuing activity. The AAAI Project includes: • Web up dates and e-mail newsletters • Talks by artists about their practice • Visits to the artists projects and exhibitions • Practical workshops and events with local art groups To offer these opportunities, artists work closely with ArtSway staff providing insight into their latest projects and initatives as well as involving audiences more deeply in an appreciation of their practice and development as artists. In addition the programme offers mentoring, support and advocacy to the participating artists who have been selected from past ArtSway residency programmes. The AAAI Project ensures a forum for artist-public discussion and promotes and provides information to the public on exhibitions, project development, funding news, studio news etc involving the artists since their residencies at ArtSway. ArtSway Director Mark Segal says “Many artists practice falls outside traditional commercial models, limiting the support network available to them. We have found that audiences are interested in the continuing activities of those artists who have already worked at ArtSway, however, traditional public gallery exhibition policies limit the opportunities for continuing partnerships with artists they have already worked with. This project aims to address both of these issues, continuing support for artists and an enhanced relationship between artists and audiences.” Artists involed in the project are:
