ArtSway Xtra is a continuation of the previous Art, Artist, Audiences and Intimacy Scheme.

ArtSway Xtra

ArtSway Xtra offers you - our valued audience member - a richer experience of contemporary visual arts. The programme provides in-depth information about the artists we work with (see ArtSway Associates), shares with you their current plans and future projects since they exhibited here at ArtSway, and informs you about what is happening in the contemporary visual arts - locally, in the South East region and beyond.

Activities offered in the programme include: a monthly e-mail newsletter, artist’s talks (in addition to our regular programme) and special events such as coach trips to visual arts events in the South East.

Joining the monthly e-mail newsletter is FREE.

Events will be offered either free or at a small fee (all events are free for Friends of ArtSway).

You can sign up for the e-newsletter by sending an e-mail to: artswayxtra-join@artsway.org.uk

Alistair Gentry at Colchester Arts Centre

ArtSway Associate Artist Alistair Gentry’s ‘Magickal Realism’ will premiere at Colchester Arts Centre on Wednesday 24 February 2010. Produced with an Arts Council England Grants for the arts award, and with support from ArtSway, ‘Magickal Realism’ is Alistair’s new live video/live performance project based on Dr John Dee, the proto-scientist, court magician and fortune-teller to Queen Elizabeth I, who was a much respected scientist in his own time, but subsequently derided as a conjurer and a trickster.

For the opening of this exhibition we are organising a free coach which will leave from Tate Britain at 5.30pm and return to London for 12am.

For more information on the project please see Alistair's website
