Embellish

	Thursday 8 - Saturday 10 11.00am - 5.00pm

Preview Evening Thursday 8 6.00pm - 8.00pm ALL ARE WELCOME

'Embellish' is an A Level Art Textile exhibition, with work based around self initiated themes and has an interconnecting connection between pieces through the exploration of individual identity.

'Embellish' supports the learning achieved on the course and all students involved have created an item or sculpture that conveys individual personalities, reflects their design ambitions and displays a passion for the subject. All of the pieces represent the students in a particular or personal way and the project has been an opportunity for the students to produce objects/ garments that represent personalities through an item of clothing.

	Statement from the students

As individuals we took inspiration from wider topics that could be examined and developed as a focus on for our final designs and ideas. The topics included; decay, print and text, water and reflections, delicate, and self. Together, as a group, we enjoy focusing on topics in which we can find interest to create a piece which relates to ourselves and styles as textile artists. We all delight in creating garments to be worn and therefore when researching artists we tend to focus on fashion, designers and the way that this relates to our specific textile subjects.

We have found the opportunity to exhibit at ArtSway exciting but also challenging as we have had short deadlines to meet!

Highcliffe School have developed a strong working relationship with ArtSway following the partnership scheme the two organisations worked on together 'Watch This Space 7' September 2010 - January 2011.

About 'Watch This Space':Gallery educators wishing to develop their work with schools were funded for nine days. They arranged a three-day placement in schools which regularly use galleries, to gain knowledge of the curriculum, teaching and learning methods and how gallery visits impact on classroom teaching. Gallery educators attended three days of training with engage and received three additional days' funding to complete project work related to the placement.
